Hans Mouthaan will leave WLP-Law
M&A lawyer Hans Mouthaan will leave WLP-Law, the firm he co-founded, on 7 September 2025. Hans wants to focus more on roles as a supervisory director and board member.
After fifteen years, Hans Mouthaan is leaving the niche firm Westinghouse Legal Partners (‘WLP-Law’), which firm he founded in 2010 with Neill André de la Porte and Richard Smeding. Hans is leaving WLP-Law as an attorney-at-law (‘advocaat’) and will no longer be part of the Dutch Bar Association. Hans explains: “I am incredibly proud of my colleagues and our clients and of what we have made of WLP-Law together. I have enjoyed working as a solicitor, but I am also curious about new opportunities. I have worked as an attorney-at-law for 30 years, 15 of which were at our own firm. That is a solid foundation for WLP-Law, and I am therefore leaving with peace of mind on our 15th anniversary. I therefore consider the opportunity that I can do something new as a privilege”.
Hans has always been open about the fact that he did not intend to remain in practice as an attorney-at-law indefinitely. His departure comes at a moment when WLP-Law, with a new generation of partners and talent, and with an expanded range of services including notarial services, has established a solid foundation that enables him to follow this path.
The current partners – Neill André de la Porte, Richard Smeding, Gerwin de Wilde, Maarten van Buuren, and Paul Westhoff – will continue to lead the 15-professional boutique firm (corporate and commercial law, tax advisory, and notarial services), with the strategic focus for the near future on organic growth.
